The mapping story

Your site changes. Your tracking should notice.

Automatic capture is only useful when raw interactions become stable, reviewable business events.

01 · INSTALL

Paste one snippet

The tracker starts observing supported page and interaction events without a separate tag-management project.

02 · DISCOVER

Map the live site

datataste learns pages and meaningful interactive elements from the site and the events that actually occur.

03 · CLASSIFY

Give events a business meaning

Related elements can be grouped, named and marked as conversions instead of remaining an anonymous click stream.

04 · ADAPT

Re-map after change

When the site changes, the mapper can discover new elements and preserve a governed event model for review.

What is captured

Supported event paths, ready to become knowledge.

The goal is not to collect every possible browser signal. It is to make the interactions marketers actually use available without repetitive tagging work.

Page views

Initial page loads and logical single-page-app navigation with URL, title and referrer context.

Link and button clicks

Supported click targets with page and element context for mapping and replay.

Form-field focus

Engagement with inputs, text areas and selects, without treating entered field content as analytics data.

Form-submit interactions

Interactions with form submit controls; your team decides which named event represents a verified business outcome.

Approved dataLayer events

Whitelisted GTM-convention messages can become datataste events when you explicitly approve their names.

Custom business events

Explicit track calls extend the governed event vocabulary when automatic browser interactions are not enough.

Automation with governance

Automatic does not mean uncontrolled.

THE MACHINE'S JOB

Discover and propose

The mapper finds candidate elements, groups related variants and keeps the model current enough that tracking work starts from evidence rather than a blank spreadsheet.

YOUR TEAM'S JOB

Name and verify what matters

A click is not automatically a conversion. Your team confirms the business meaning, chooses the conversion events and keeps the governed vocabulary intentional.

Event tracking questions

What no-code really means.

Which interactions does datataste capture automatically?

Out of the box, datataste records page views and supported interactions such as link and button clicks, form-field focus and form-submit controls. Approved dataLayer messages and explicit custom events can extend that set.

Do I need Google Tag Manager?

Not for the core datataste tracking flow. You install one snippet, and datataste handles the supported event capture and mapping. You may still keep GTM for unrelated tools in your stack.

What happens when my website changes?

The mapper is designed to rediscover and classify new or changed elements. Your team can review the resulting mapping instead of rebuilding the entire tracking plan from scratch.

Does automatic capture make every click a conversion?

No. Capture supplies the evidence. You decide which named events represent business outcomes and which should be treated as conversions.

Ship the page without opening another tagging spreadsheet.
